A Stunning Site in Weston, MA
One of my favorite sites when you drive through Weston Center is the large Town Green.
It is put to good use most of the year with an Easter Egg Hunt in the spring, a fantastic Concert series all summer long, a Pumpkin Festival in October (10/16) and sledding for the little ones during the long, snowy winters.
Its bowl like shape and expansive lawn area, surrounded by trees and overlooked by the Town Hall and other historical buildings, is striking in itself and often beckons me to pull over, kick off my shoes and take a few meditative minutes feeling the thick grass between my toes.
As I drove by this week on a bright sunny day, the deep green grass was complemented by the bright colors of three thousand flags.
Three thousand flags, set in the ground and blowing in the wind, all to represent the people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
While this is something Weston does every year to honor the memory of those lost and recognize that tragic day, it is always impactful and emotional to see. This year it got me out of my car as I paused and contemplated what it stood for.
